Boating is easy and a wonderful way to and unwind while enjoying quality time with family and friends.
It really is the fast way to slow down!
No license / No experience required :
Our boats are so easy to handle that no previous boating experience is necessary.
Driving a Le Boat canal cruiser is in fact surprisingly simple – The boats go at 6-8km/h & it steers with a wheel just like a car, and a single lever controls speed both forward and backwards.
Instruction & assistance :
Before setting off on your cruise, we will provide you with a hands-on demonstration and an in-depth briefing which covers everything from tying knots to how the oven works.
Plus, our extensive network of bases along the waterways means you are never far from our support teams who will be able to assist you should you experience any problems or difficulties while you are cruising.
In addition, before you go, you can access video clips and documentation about driving and mooring your boat.
Living on board :
All our boats are fully equipped for a maximum level of comfort.
Our range of boats can accommodate small groups of 2 right up to 12. All of the creature comforts you would expect of a vacation home are provided, fully equipped galleys (that’s nautical for kitchen!) hot and cold running water, lounges, en-suite showers and bathrooms – we even have air conditioning and TV’s on some of our more modern boats.
As you cruise, your engine will automatically charge you batteries, heat your water and cool your fridge, keeping you totally self-sufficient.
When to go :
The canals open near the 15th March (or 1st April depending on the canals in your selected destination) and end near the 1st November. During the winter, locks and boats are closed for maintenance to prepare the new boating season.
About the locks :
Passing through a lock will often be a highlight of your cruise! Once you have navigated through one lock you will quickly discover just how simple it is.
Depending on your cruising region, locks may be operated manually, electric, automatic or even manned by a lock keeper. But regardless of the system, rest-assured the maneuvers are quite simple and always very much the same at each lock.
If you are looking for lock-free cruising head down to the Camargue in the South of France! The Norfolk Broads is also lock free.
Where to moor :
You could moor anywhere you want to, along the canal or in a public or private marina. Some marinas offer night and day facilities for a few Euros. Such moorings usually offer electric plugs and water refill but may also provide showers, snacks, etc.
Our cruising companion or the waterways guide/map that you will find onboard highlight these facilities. Moorings places are subject to availability so we recommend you to call the marinas a few hours before your arrival.Boating is easy and a wonderful way to and unwind while enjoying quality time with family and friends.
